2010 Prom Focus Group Meeting

Fifty high school girls from the area spent an evening with us in the new prom store!

These junior and senior girls were hand selected to review gowns, study designer ads, and basically talk prom.

To get the fun started, the girls were broken up into groups. They were given a surprise box of mixed fabrics, ribbons, odds 'n ends and pins. A lead designer was chosen and then the model.

Each group had to design a prom dress, present it on the runway, and explain their inspiration!

What a blast! And very creative I might add.

Of course, we did give them a sneak preview of actual gowns on the runway, modeled by some of the sophmore students from Erie & Millcreek schools.

A great success for all! These "focus group" members will take advantage of "closed door" sales events, bonus discounts, and model for our prom shows and MTV Commercial!

Headpiece Trends

Wow! Headpieces sure have changed.

Trends have definately shifted from traditional tiaras to oversize florals, feathers, pins and stunning combinations.

The piece shown here is a combination of large flower, Swarovski pin, Ostrich feathers and Russian Cage Veiling.

National Bridal Market

Here's a peek at the 2010 National Bridal Market that took place in October in Chicago.

I'm very excited to report to you that we found stunning wedding gowns this year. The bridal designers have definately been doing their homework. One shoulders, soft pickup skirts, lots of wrapped bodices and very appealing prices.

I'll be showing you pictures of market and fill you in on the latest trends over the next few weeks.

Fall Bridesmaid Samples

I'm very excited about the new fall samples I just ordered from Dessy. Sleek styles with a definate flair in design. What makes them so successful, is that they took advantage of their best dresses and updated their fabrics! Now you can have it all!

Upcoming Cocktail & Bridesmaid Dresses!

Wow! I just came back from St. Louis where we went to meet and discuss dresses for the upcoming season with the designers from 2be bridal. I'm so excited about our new "little black dress" collection!

The Nathan Taylor Collection is incredible! This hot little number shown in the picture is just one of the fabulous cocktail length dresses I ordered for the store. Actually, I ordered it in scarlet red too!

To be quite honest, I went hog wild with ordering dresses!
They should be in the store over the next few weeks~cocktail dresss that cross over from weddings to social events. One shoulders, strapless, tafettas and satin dresses reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn. Stock sizes range from 2 to 18, but can be ordered up to size 24 in a ton of great colors. Just look at the detail!

We're looking for 15 girls to model prom dresses for the annual Millcreek Mall Prom Fashion Show. It's next Saturday, April 18th at noon, in the Mall. Call 814-866-7790 if you're interested.

What Happened Here Yesterday

Ok, so I know that our customers really become our friends, but I have to tell you about a phone call that I got from a customer yesterday. First let me say, she didn't tell us who she was. So, I was a little bewildered as to why she was calling Bridal Elegance. As it turns out, it was still a compliment.

Ring..ring..."Hi! Can you tell me where we should go to dinner next week? We're looking for a great restaurant for a romantic dinner and a great lunch."

Ahem. "You do know that you're calling a Bridal Shop, don't you? Not the local chamber of commerce or food critic hotline."

I chuckled and asked the customer why she would call a dress shop for restaraunt information. She replied quite seriously. "Well, I know that you girls are so classy, know the in's to all the latest things, and I feel I could ask you anything!"

My thoughts now are....Anyone have any other questions??? We're here for you.

Prom girls are Wild!

Prom girls are just wild! Just because this picture shows a girl in an animal print doesn't mean that's what I'm talking about.

The average 16-18 year old girl is a wild creature herself! If you've ever been in Bridal Elegance on any given Saturday during prom season(which starts the day after Christmas by the way), you'de know what I mean.

It's pure animal extinct to sniff out the best prom dress. That includes stalking other girls' dressing rooms, persuading her that it doesn't look good on them--- but would be great on herself, or even staking out the "put away" rack.

I think it would best be called ORGANIZED CHAOS! You know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. Lively, exhausting , silly and way fun!!! Come join us!
